Nylon can withstand more heat than plastic and is used to secure heavier items, however the cut to length is a superbly versatile product.
These Cut to length plastic wall plug strips sometimes referred to as cut to size are ideal for general purpose tasks provided the correct drill size is used with a suitable screw. These long wall plug strips are 300mm (12â) and are easily cut to the length required for each application. The screw self-centres in the plug pushing the 3 external fins against the sides of the hole preventing rotation.
Wall plug sizes available are Red for M3.5 and M4.0 screws, Green for M4.0 and M5.0 screws and the Blue for M5.0 and M6.0 screws. You ask what size do I need? That will be determined by the weight of the item, the number and size of screws used to fix it for example London Grey shelf brackets will require M4.0 x 40 to M5.0 x 50 depending on the size and number of brackets so selecting a green strips would be the best choice
For maximum grip and strength, it is recommended to use a slightly smaller drill when using a smaller diameter screw in each colour.
e.g. use a 5.5mm drill when using M3.5 screws in a Red plug â 6.0mm for a M4.0 screws
Or a 6.0mm drill for a M4.0mm screw when using a green plug and 6.5mm for M5.0 screws
Similarly use a 6.5mm drill for a M5.0 screw when using a blue plug and 7.0mm drill for M6.0 screw
Ensure the plug fits fully into the hole and does not protrude. Some professionals push the strip fully into the hole, and holding the plug with their thumb against the wall, marking the length, then withdraw a few millimetres, mark and cut to the mark and push the plug back into the wall.
Very affordable and easy to use, there are 000âs of uses for these plugs from hanging pictures fixing a hook to a wall, fitting hanging baskets, securing wooden batons brackets to masonry, concrete, brickwork, blocks and stone.
