Flush hinges and Cranked flush hinges Flush hinges are suitable for cabinet and other lightweight doors as one leaf fits inside the other. They are not as strong as butt hinges but the big advantage is that it is not necessary to recess them into the door or door frame making them easily fitted by any do it yourself person although the purist may wish to recess the door or the door frame. Normally the smallest leaf is fitted to the narrowest section and again the advice from the professionals is to have the knuckle facing inward over the door as opposed to the frame but that will also depend on other factors. Flush hinges are manufactured from steel with a brass plated finish. A large outer leaf which determines the size 40mm, 50mm 60mm 75mm and a smaller leaf which fits inside a cut out section in the outer leaf. We supply a project pack with a pair (2) hinges and the appropriate screws and trade packs of 10 pairs (20) hinges without screws. Very handy hinges to use if you don't want to or don't have the tools to recess the door and frame for the stronger butt hinges. Check that the lightweight design is strong enough to support the weight of the door being fitted. Single cranked flush hinges are specialist hinges for fitting doors to cabinets and cupboard. They are designed with one flat leaf which screws onto the back of the door and the other leaf cranked or bent at 90 degrees at 16mm from the centre pin and 50mm tall. It is designed to fit over the edge of the cabinet side panel and secured with screws on both sides of the crank. Cranked flush hinges allow the door to open more than 90 and even up to 180 degrees making it well suited for cupboards with pull-out shelves or concealed drawers. They are manufactured from steel with 7 screw holes in each hinge. The finishes available are brass plated and bright zinc plated.
