The word hook includes a vast assortment of products to hold a variety
of products. Hooks are available to hang pictures, clothes, keys, cups,
curtains, hanging baskets, tools, brushes, bicycles and to store various items
too numerous to list.
The
fixing of a hook divides into some basic categories namely
Screw
into the base material e.g. cup hook, dresser hooks, screw hook, screw eye,
vine eyes, storage hooks

through the product into the base material e.g. hat and coat hooks, robe hooks,

Nail or
pin to the base material, e.g. picture hooks, picture hangers

Supported hooks e.g. curtain tape hooks, curtain gliders, curtain wire,
Picture rail moulding hooks This is an example of a supported hook as it is necessary to have a picture rail which is a moulded piece of wood usually fitted around the room. The picture moulding hook clips over the rail. No fixings are needed.
Picture hooks and pins These picture hooks are designed to be pinned to the wall using the 24mm hardened pins supplied. The No 1 and 2 have a single fixing point while No 3 has 2 fixing points.
Nylon hardwall picture hangers There are 3 sizes with 2, 3 or 4 pins depending on the size. The pins are hammered into the plaster. Only a hammer needed for fitting
Picture hanging fittings Having put up the hook these fittings are used to secure the picture to the hook. This is done with either D rings, screw rings screw eyes and picture wire or picture twine.
Plain and slotted picture mounting plates
These are available slotted for removal and plain for permanent fixing. Each plate has 3 holes (slotted 1 keyhole shaped) The 2 holes along the straight side are screwed to the picture frame with the hole on the domed side projecting out the side of the frame which is then screwed to the wall.
Flushmounts are used for fitting wooden backed mirrors amongst other specific applications.
Single robe hooks is designed for one garment and are used on toilet doors and available in various finishes
Double robe hook a "W" pattern hook designed for hold 2 garments click on the link for finishes
Hat and Coat hook a larger hook is positioned above the smaller robe style hook and are ideal for the cloakroom etc. Finishes available are black nickel, satin nickel, black antique, aluminium, brass and chrome plated.
Triple hat and coat hooks Extremely functional and practical as they have 2 smaller W pattern hooks below the larger hook. Perfect for the hallway, cloakroom, under stairs storage. Finishes available are black nickel, satin nickel, antique, white and chrome plated.
4 hooks mounted onto a pine or mdf board are very handy in entrance hallways
Cup hooks are measured by the projection after fitting i.e. a 25mm
hook protrudes 25mm from the wall when fitted. Available finishes brass plated, bright zinc plated and white PVC coated.
Dresserhooks are L shaped and have many applications the most popular
would be for hanging keys
Curtain tape hooks, attach the curtain to the gliders
or directly to the rail.
Curtain gliders Sologlyde and Nova deluxe gliders slide in the curtain rail and are used to fit
the curtain to the rail
Expanding curtain wire with the screw hooks and eyes is used to hang lace net privacy curtains.
Curtain tiebacks are available in various finishes to hold back the curtains.
Screw hooks are available zinc or brass plated and are much heavier duty than cup hooks and are ideal for supporting hanging baskets and a host of other applications in the home and garden.
Screw eyes are fully enclosed so there is no possibility of the chain or wire slipping out. They have hundreds of uses around the home and garden and are a perfect partner with vine eyes
